The eight ports that report container handling on the West Coast total four million 530 thousand 566 TEUs in the January-September 2023 period, a movement just 0.6% higher than the same period last year, according to statistics from the Ministry of the Navy (Semar).
Of this total, 60% was operated by the port of Manzanillo (Colima), with 2,728,653 TEUs, a growth of 6.4%, according to the referred comparison periods.
For years, the port of Colima has led the movement of maritime containers not only on the Pacific coast but also compared to all the ports of the country, where its four specialized terminals have made investments to support this demand, in some cases exceeded, so that even expansions are already being carried out due to the growing trend that is visualized in the near future.
In total, all ports that handle containers in the country have totaled six million 187,939 TEUs in the period January-September 2023, with a slight decrease of 0.3% compared to the same period last year.
